
Hon. Ditoka Receives Courtesy Call From The Korean Ambassador To Fiji

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, received a courtesy call from the Vice Governor of Jiangsu Province of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr. Zhao Yan, at the Ministry on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
The meeting underscored opportunities to further strengthen Fiji–China cooperation in priority areas, including economic growth, poverty reduction, agricultural development, and trade and investment. Discussions were forward-looking and focused on practical initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and supporting sustainable development, particularly for rural communities in Fiji.
In welcoming the delegation, Hon. Ditoka acknowledged China’s continued support and highlighted the significant potential for deepened cooperation. He noted that Jiangsu Province’s experience, particularly in landowner-based development models, poverty alleviation, and agricultural advancement, offers valuable lessons that could contribute to Fiji’s development objectives.
Hon. Ditoka reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties through frameworks such as the Enhanced Economic Partnership Agreement with China. He further recognised Jiangsu’s development achievements, which have placed rural communities at the centre of inclusive growth through targeted investments and integration into broader economic systems.
The Minister expressed his appreciation to the delegation and conveyed his best wishes for productive engagements during their visit, aimed at further strengthening Fiji–China bilateral relations.
Vice Governor Zhao Yan acknowledged the strong and growing partnership between Fiji and China and expressed Jiangsu Province’s readiness to explore practical avenues of cooperation aligned with Fiji’s development priorities.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to translating this partnership into tangible outcomes that deliver mutual benefits for the peoples of both nations.
