The Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, the Honourable Matthew Wale, arrived at Nausori Airport yesterday evening (30/06.2026) for his first official visit to Fiji, underscoring the shared commitment of both countries to advancing bilateral cooperation and Pacific solidarity.
Prime Minister Wale and his delegation were warmly welcomed by Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka and in recognition of the visit, Prime Minister Wale was accorded a 50-man Guard of Honour by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
The official programme will continue today with a traditional welcoming ceremony, followed by a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at State House. Prime Minister Wale will also hold bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of Fiji, Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka, and senior Government officials to discuss matters of mutual interest to the Fiji–Solomon Islands relationship.
Fiji and the Solomon Islands established diplomatic relations in 1978. Over the past four decades, the partnership has continued to grow from strength to strength, underpinned by shared cultural heritage, common regional interests and the pursuit of peace, stability and prosperity in the Pacific.
Prime Minister Wale’s first official visit to Fiji marks an important milestone in the enduring partnership between the two countries.
