The Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands, the Honourable Matthew Wale, was accorded a traditional ceremony of welcome this morning at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva – marking his first official visit to Fiji.
The ceremony, hosted by the Government of Fiji, was attended by Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, Cabinet Ministers, senior Government officials, members of the Diplomatic Corps and invited guests.
The traditional welcome reflected the enduring friendship, shared cultural heritage and strong people-to-people ties between Fiji and Solomon Islands. Prime Minister Wale expressed his sincere appreciation to Prime Minister Rabuka, the Government and the people of Fiji for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
Following the traditional ceremony, Prime Minister Wale will pay a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu. He will then hold official bilateral talks with Prime Minister Rabuka and senior Government officials.
