Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, the Honourable Matthew Wale, at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in Suva on Wednesday 1st July 2026.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Rabuka welcomed Prime Minister Wale to Fiji and reaffirmed the enduring diplomatic relations between Fiji and the Solomon Islands. Prime Minister Rabuka spoke to the deep historical and people-to-people ties between the two countries, and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to working closely with the Solomon Islands to advance shared regional priorities and promote peace, stability and prosperity across the Pacific.
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on key regional and international developments and discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation through sub-regional and regional mechanisms. They also reaffirmed the importance of Pacific solidarity and collective action in addressing the common challenges facing the Blue Pacific region.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Wale expressed his sincere appreciation to Prime Minister Rabuka, the Government and the people of Fiji for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He reaffirmed the Solomon Islands’ commitment to further strengthening its longstanding partnership with Fiji and acknowledged Fiji’s leadership within the Pacific.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with both leaders reaffirming their shared commitment to working together to advance the collective interests of the Pacific family.
