The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Honourable Viliame Gavoka, today bid farewell to the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, at Nausori International Airport, marking the successful conclusion of his official visit to Fiji.
Prime Minister Albanese was accorded a 50-member Guard of Honour by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, and the farewell delegation also included the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, H.E Peter Roberts and senior government officials.
Prime Minister Albanese’s visit underscored the depth and strategic importance of the Fiji–Australia relationship, reaffirming the shared commitment of both countries to advancing peace, security, prosperity and resilience across the Pacific region.
A key milestone of the visit was the signing of the historic Vuvale Union and the Ocean of Peace Alliance, landmark treaty-level agreements that elevate the bilateral relationship to an unprecedented level of strategic cooperation. The agreement will deepen collaboration in trade and investment, education, law enforcement, border security, policing, and efforts to combat transnational organised crime, further enhancing Fiji’s national capabilities while contributing to regional peace and security.
