Minister of State For Foreign Affairs of The UAE Concludes Official Visit to Fiji
07/09/2026Published On: 07/09/2026
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade advises Fijian nationals and other travellers planning to travel to or transit through Indonesia, particularly Jakarta, to exercise caution and monitor the situation closely following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait.
Volcanic ash has affected parts of western Indonesia and resulted in significant disruptions to air services, including cancellations, delays and diversions at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta and other airports. The situation remains fluid, and further changes to flight schedules may occur.
Travellers are advised to:
- Check their flight status directly with their airline before travelling to the airport;
- Follow instructions and updates issued by Indonesian authorities and airport operators; and
- Avoid travelling to the airport unless their flight has been confirmed to operate, due to ongoing congestion and operational disruptions.
- Fijian nationals requiring consular assistance are encouraged to contact the Fiji Embassy in Jakarta.
The Ministry will continue to monitor developments and issue further advice as necessary.
