PM Rabuka Meets with Israel Ambassador: Discusses Areas of Mutual Interest

The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr Raijeli Taga today received a courtesy call from the non-resident Ambassador of Israel to Fiji and the Pacific, His Excellency Roi Rosenbilt, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) headquarters in Suva.
During his three-day visit to Fiji which began on Monday this week, Ambassador Rosenbilt has undertaken series of meetings with the senior government officials to explore opportunities to strengthen the bilateral relations and cooperation between Fiji and Israel. This visit comes at an opportune time, given the recent Cabinet Decision to open Fiji’s Embassy in Jerusalem.
In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Taga acknowledged the mutual cooperation between the two nations. She highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to work collaboratively with Israel in the establishment of Fiji’s Embassy in Jerusalem.
The initiative is a significant milestone in expanding Fiji’s diplomatic footprint and strategic partnerships for mutual development.
The meeting looked at potential avenues to enhance cooperation particularly in the lead-up to the opening of Fiji’s Embassy in Jerusalem. The key areas of collaboration discussed between Fiji and Israel, included ✅️agricultural sector, ✅️security, ✅️peacekeeping, and ✅️climate change.
In his remarks, Ambassador Rosenbilt thanked Dr. Taga and her team for the productive discussions focused on solidifying the relations formally established in 1970.
Ambassador Rosenbilt expressed his appreciation to the Fiji Government for its efforts to establish a diplomatic Mission in Jerusalem.
Ambassador Rosenbilt is expected to meet with Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka on Wednesday 12th March 2025.
His visit to Fiji will conclude tomorrow, following a series of significant discussions that will pave the way for deeper collaboration, further complementing the establishment of Fiji’s Embassy in Jerusalem.
