The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade farewelled three diplomats as they prepare to represent Fiji’s interests on the global stage.
The diplomats include Counsellor to Fiji’s Embassy in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China, Mr Luke Ravusoni; First Secretary to Fiji’s Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, Ms Vasiti Cirikiyasawa; and Second Secretary to the Fiji High Commission in Canberra, Australia, Mr Ilisoni Uganidavui.
They are tasked with promoting Fiji’s foreign policy priorities, strengthening bilateral relations, advancing trade and economic cooperation, and safeguarding the interests of Fijians living abroad.
In his remarks, Counsellor Ravusoni expressed his appreciation to the Ministry for its confidence in him and acknowledged the responsibility of representing Fiji internationally. He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Fiji’s diplomatic and development priorities while fostering stronger global cooperation.
Speaking at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Ms. Taga, congratulated the three diplomats and wished them well on their appointments. She also conveyed the Ministry’s confidence in their abilities.
Ms. Taga said diplomacy was a calling that required diligence, professionalism, discipline, and commitment in representing Fiji abroad.
She encouraged the diplomats to serve with honour and integrity while continuing to uphold Fiji’s 🇫🇯 values and strengthen the country’s standing within the international community.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade wishes the three diplomats and their families every success as they embark on their new assignments.
