The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MFAET), in partnership with the Australian High Commission (AHC), co-hosted the inaugural “Appreciating Women in Diplomacy Networking Group event” in Suva yesterday. The initiative coincided with the commemoration of the global advocacy on the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence.
Dr Taga commended the achievements of women diplomats who have helped shaped Fiji’s foreign service and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to continue empowering women at all levels of diplomacy. She reflected on her professional journey at the Ministry, highlighting both the positive insights and the challenges that also comes with the role.
Expressing gratitude to the Australian High Commission for its support, Dr. Taga acknowledged the importance of such initiatives in promoting gender equality and thanked development partners for their continued advocacy on the 16 Days of Activism campaign.
Ms. McNamara acknowledged the remarkable contributions of women in diplomacy and reaffirmed Australia’s support for initiatives on women empowerment.
