Hon. Ditoka Receives Farewell Call from Malaysian High Commissioner to Fiji

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka, today received a farewell call from the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Fiji, His Excellency Nor’ Azam Mohd Idrus, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

Minister Ditoka thanked High Commissioner Idrus for his dedicated service and contribution to strengthening the Fiji–Malaysia partnership, particularly in expanded economic ties and development cooperation.

The Minister acknowledged the deepened partnership between the two nations with focus on advancing defence cooperation, trade, education, capacity building and people-to-people links.

Hon. Ditoka also noted Malaysia’s valued role as a Pacific Islands Forum Dialogue Partner and its continued support for climate action, emphasising that climate change remains the greatest existential threat to Pacific Small Island Developing States.

Both sides recognised prospects for future cooperation in energy security and resilience, particularly in addressing the vulnerabilities of Small Island Developing States to global fuel supply disruptions.

In closing, Hon. Ditoka on behalf of the Government and the people of Fiji, wished High Commissioner Idrus and his family every success in their future endeavours.

High Commissioner Idrus in turn, thanked the Government and the people of Fiji for their kind support and cooperation rendered to him during his diplomatic tenure in Fiji.
