The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through the Fiji High Commission in Papua New Guinea, will host the Fiji Trade & Tourism Expo 2026 at Vision City Mega Mall in Port Moresby from 7 to 9 October 2026.
The Expo aims to open new market opportunities for Fijian businesses- and investors and is presented by the Fiji High Commission in Port Moresby in partnership with Vision City Mega Mall, Investment Fiji, the Investment Promotion Authority of Papua New Guinea (IPA), and Tourism Fiji. It will be held under the theme: “Bringing Fiji to PNG – Three Exciting Days of Trade, Tourism and Culture.”
Fiji and Papua New Guinea share longstanding diplomatic, cultural and people-to-people ties. The reopening of the Fiji High Commission in Port Moresby, Fiji’s 2025 Trade Mission to Papua New Guinea, and the re-establishment of the PNG–Fiji Business Council have identified further opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, tourism, trade and investment, ICT, health and technical services.
The Expo will showcase:
- Fijian businesses, products and services;
- Fiji’s tourism offerings and destination showcases;
- Business networking and trade enquiries;
- Traditional meke and cultural performances; and
- Fijian cuisine and culinary demonstrations
Potential Business Leads and Opportunities for Fiji
The Expo will provide Fijian businesses, exporters and investors with direct exposure to the Papua New Guinea market, including opportunities for:
- Direct business-to-business engagement with Papua New Guinean buyers, distributors, investors and government agencies;
- New joint ventures, agency arrangements and distribution partnerships in agriculture, tourism, ICT, health and technical services;
- Guidance on market entry and investment facilitation through the Investment Promotion Authority of Papua New Guinea (IPA); and
- Greater brand exposure for Fijian tourism, cuisine and cultural products among Papua New Guinean consumers.
PNG: A Market of Opportunity for Fijian Investors
Papua New Guinea is the largest economy in the Pacific Islands region, with a population of approximately 10 million and a resource-driven economy spanning agriculture, minerals, oil and gas. Its growing population and expanding consumer base present opportunities for Fijian businesses seeking to diversify and expand into new markets.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade views Papua New Guinea as an important market for the diversification and growth of Fijian trade and investment and encourages Fijian companies to consider PNG as a priority market for expansion.
Pre-Expo Business-to-Business Engagement
On 6 October 2026, the Fiji High Commission will also host a Pre-Expo Business-to-Business (B2B) Event at the Mission. The event will provide a dedicated one-on-one platform for businesses participating in the Investment Fiji Business Mission to connect with relevant Papua New Guinean business counterparts, buyers, investors and potential partners.
Together, the B2B event and the three-day Expo will provide a four-day platform for Fijian businesses to promote their products and services, including tourism offerings, directly to the Papua New Guinean market. The programme is expected to facilitate business networking, generate new commercial leads and support the development of partnerships between the private sectors of Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
