The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka, held a productive meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), Mr. Kong Wy Mun, on 15 April 2026 in Singapore.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong and growing partnership between Fiji and SCE, with both sides committing to deepen and explore cooperation in key priority areas including energy security, digital governance, infrastructure development, trade and investment, and capacity building. Discussions emphasised the importance of advancing practical, implementation-focused outcomes that directly support Fiji’s national development priorities.
Minister Ditoka acknowledged SCE’s longstanding support to Fiji, particularly in areas such as civil service reform, digital government initiatives, and urban planning. He said that “these collaborations have contributed significantly to strengthening public sector performance, improving service delivery, and supporting sustainable urban development in Fiji”.
A key focus of the discussions was energy security, with both sides exploring the possibility of SCE supporting Fiji in the development of a national fuel security strategy, as well as providing advisory on energy transition pathways and renewable energy solutions in light of ongoing global energy uncertainties. The meeting also highlighted opportunities to enhance trade and investment linkages, including positioning Fiji as a gateway to the Pacific and attracting Singaporean investment into priority sectors.
Both parties agreed to pursue further engagement, including the identification of priority pilot projects and expanded technical cooperation. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advancing a long-term, strategic, and results-oriented partnership, with Fiji positioned as a key partner for SCE engagement in the Pacific region.
