Fiji Reaffirms Strong Partnership with Ireland

Fiji’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Jovilisi Suveinakama presented his Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Catherine Connolly, President of Ireland, accrediting him as Fiji’s Non-Resident Ambassador to Ireland.

During the ceremony held this week, Ambassador Suveinakama conveyed the warm greetings from the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, the Government, and the people of Fiji. He reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding partnership with Ireland through closer collaboration on climate action, sustainable development, ocean governance, and other shared global priorities.

The Ambassador also expressed Fiji’s sincere appreciation for Ireland’s enduring support for the Pacific region and Small Island Developing States.

Following the ceremony, he met with members of the Fijian diaspora in Ireland, acknowledging their valuable contribution to fostering enduring people-to-people links between the two countries.

Together, Fiji and Ireland continue to advance a partnership grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and a common commitment to sustainable development and multilateral cooperation.
