Fiji Joins The Advisory Centre on WTO Law (ACWL)

Fiji has become the 48th Member of the Advisory Center on WTO Law.

Permanent Representative Tamata and the Executive Director of the ACWL formalised Fiji’s joining the ACWL through the signing of the Protocol Instruments at the ACWL Headquarters in Geneva.

Fiji acknowledges the support of the Governments of Australia and New Zealand, towards Fiji’s accession to the ACWL Protocol.

Based in Geneva, near the headquarters of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Advisory Centre on WTO Law (ACWL) advises its developing country* Members and least-developed countries (LDCs) on all issues relating to WTO law.

The ACWL gives free legal advice and training on WTO law and provides support in WTO dispute settlement proceedings, to the developing country Members of the ACWL (Fiji now included) and to LDCs that are Members of the WTO or are in the process of acceding to the WTO.

With Fiji becoming a member of the ACWL, we have an opportunity to utilise the services offered by the ACWL to support our engagement at the WTO and also build capacities of our people on international Trade law.

The Mission is working with ACWL on trade initiatives.
