The Republic of Fiji established diplomatic relations with the State of Israel in August 1970. Though geographically distant, our two nations have built a relationship defined by shared values, mutual respect, and decades of practical cooperation. The establishment of the Fiji Embassy in Jerusalem in September 2025 stands as a testament to the strength and maturity of this relation.

Fiji’s presence in the region has long preceded the opening of our Embassy in Jerusalem. Over the years, through our peacekeepers who have served under the United Nations in Lebanon, Syria, and the Sinai, Fiji has played a consistent role in safeguarding regional stability and protecting Israel’s borders. This contribution has earned Fiji a reputation for professionalism and courage that is respected across the region and around the world.

Israel has also been a committed partner in Fiji’s development journey. Collaboration in agriculture, health, education, and capacity‑building has strengthened our institutions and improved the lives of our people. Our ties are also shaped by deep cultural and spiritual connections as Fijians hold a profound affinity for Israel and Jerusalem as the Holy Land. This sentiment reinforces the warmth and goodwill that underpin our bilateral relations.

In an international system that is rapidly evolving, Fiji and Israel have continued to stand by each other. Our partnership has weathered global challenges and moments of domestic difficulty for both nations. Through it all, our friendship has remained steady, principled, and forward‑looking.

Today, Fiji and Israel continue to work together for the benefit of our peoples. Our shared history, common values, and mutual support form the foundation of a relationship that will continue to grow in the years ahead.
