The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Dr Raijeli Taga, held a virtual meeting today with Ms Sarah Ellerman, Assistant United States Trade Representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, and Ms Colette Morgan, Deputy Assistant United States Trade Representative.
This was the first engagement between the two sides following the transfer of trade responsibilities to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MFAET).
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to reaffirm their shared commitment to maintaining momentum and strengthening cooperation on trade matters. Discussions focused on continuing constructive engagements, maintaining open lines of communication, and working together on trade issues of mutual interest.
Dr. Taga emphasised Fiji’s commitment to constructive engagement and confirmed Fiji’s readiness to continue dialogue and cooperation with the United States.
The Trade Unit in the Ministry serves as the central coordinating body for all matters relating to Fiji’s international trade policy.
