The New Zealand-Fiji Business Council (NZFBC) hosted a Business Engagement Dinner for Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka, at the Sofitel Auckland CBD on 15 July 2026.
The engagement served as an opportunity to strengthen dialogue between the Fiji Government and New Zealand’s business community, building on the momentum generated during the New Zealand-Fiji Business Council’s successful business mission to Fiji in June 2026. It also reflected the shared commitment of both countries to further deepen bilateral trade, investment, and commercial partnerships.
Honourable Ditoka was accompanied by Fiji’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, and the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Dr. Raijeli Taga. Also in attendance were New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Fiji, Mr Greg Andrews, members of the New Zealand-Fiji Business Council, and representatives from a diverse range of businesses operating in Fiji and across the Pacific.
Discussions highlighted the growing opportunities for trade and investment between Fiji and New Zealand, with business leaders sharing their experiences and future investment plans across key sectors including agribusiness, e-commerce, renewable energy, logistics, infrastructure, and specialised professional services. Participants reaffirmed the importance of fostering an enabling business environment that supports innovation, investment, and sustainable economic growth.
The engagement also explored broader areas of collaboration, including youth empowerment and community-led approaches to addressing illicit drug-related challenges. Participants acknowledged that closer partnerships between governments, businesses, and communities are essential to delivering inclusive and sustainable development outcomes.
Addressing the business leaders, Honourable Ditoka reaffirmed the Fijian Government’s commitment to maintaining a transparent, predictable, and investor-friendly business environment. He encouraged New Zealand businesses to continue investing in Fiji and underscored the importance of building on the strong momentum in bilateral trade and investment to unlock new opportunities for growth, innovation, and value creation. He emphasised that the next phase of the Fiji-New Zealand economic partnership should focus on expanding into higher-value sectors, strengthening resilient supply chains, and fostering deeper private sector collaboration that delivers shared prosperity for both countries.
The event reaffirmed the enduring partnership between Fiji and New Zealand and highlighted the pivotal role of the New Zealand-Fiji Business Council in strengthening commercial ties, promoting investment, and fostering enduring people-to-people and business-to-business connections between the two countries.
