The Non-Resident Ambassador of Kosovo to Fiji, Ms. Jetmira Berdynaj Shala, was warmly welcomed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka and the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External, Dr. Raijeli Taga earlier this week.
Hon. Ditoka acknowledged the longstanding relationship between Fiji and Kosovo, noting the 13 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 18th Anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence.
Additionally, the Honourable Minister welcomed Kosovo’s interest in expanding its engagement in the Pacific and expressed Fiji’s readiness to enhance bilateral engagement across key sectors including sports, education, culture, peacekeeping, and diplomacy.
The meeting recalled Fiji’s contribution to peacekeeping efforts in Kosovo through the deployment of Fijian personnel under the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) from 1999 to 2006.
Ambassador Shala expressed her sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to strengthening and deepening its bilateral relations with Fiji, underscoring a shared interest in building meaningful cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
