Fiji Reafirms Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Ties with Kosovo

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, welcomed the Non – Resident Ambassador and Special Envoy of Portugal for the Pacific, His Excellency, Domingos Fezas Vital in Suva on Monday (13.04.26).
The meeting highlighted the growing momentum in Fiji-Portugal relations reaffirming shared commitment to advance cooperation on key global priorities.
Discussions focused on Fiji and Portugal’s common stand in contributing to international peacekeeping efforts, advocating for responsible ocean governance, and supporting peaceful solutions to global challenges. Fiji and Portugal share common values and priorities in the multilateral fora and continued collaboration and conversations on oceans, maritime sustainability and climate action reflect broader alignment of our values. Both countries are part of a growing coalition dedicated to safeguarding marine biodiversity and ensuring the sustainable use of ocean resources.
Fiji acknowledges the expanding opportunities in people-to-people links with Portugal, including sports diplomacy. With Portugal’s rising profile in international rugby there is opportunity for future exchanges.
H.E. Domingos Fezas Vita conveyed the Portugal’s strong regard for its longstanding relationship with Fiji and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties across the Pacific region.
Fiji values Portugal not only as a bilateral partner but also as a strong ally in multilateral platforms, particularly in championing ocean-related initiatives. Portugal’s leadership in global ocean dialogue continues to inspire collective action and reinforces the urgency of protecting one of the world’s most vital resources.
