The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Honourable Viliame Gavoka, this evening warmly welcomed the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP for an official visit to Fiji.
Prime Minister Albanese was accorded a 50-man Guard of Honour by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces; the welcoming delegation also included the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka and senior government officials.
Prime Minister Albanese’s Official Visit will commence tomorrow with a Traditional Welcoming Ceremony hosted by the Government of Fiji and will include a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka, and senior officials from both Governments.
The discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation under the Vuvale Partnership as well as key regional and global issues. Prime Minister Albanese’s Official Visit reaffirms the longstanding friendship between Fiji and Australia and reflects both countries’ shared commitment to a peaceful, resilient and prosperous Blue Pacific.
