Ambassador Filipo Tarakinikini presents his credentials as Fiji’s non-resident ambassador to the State of Israel

Fiji’s Ambassador His Excellency Filipo Tarakinikini recently met with the Chief of Protocol for the State of Israel, His Excellency Ambassador Gil Haskel, as he prepared to present his credentials as Fiji’s new non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Israel.
Ambassador Tarakinikini also had the opportunity to meet with various Heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel such as the Division of Asia and the Pacific; MASHAV and the Department for Economic Affairs, all of whom were eager to deepen political and economic relations with Fiji as well as in other areas of strategic importance. Echoed repeatedly are the historical relations between Fiji and Israel tied to faith and peacekeeping ever since Fiji and Israel established relations since 1970.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tarakinikini acknowledged the past including existing cooperations with the Government of the State of Israel, and the two nations look forward to further enhancing these relations through closer collaboration and ties.
With the imminent opening of the Embassy of Fiji in Jerusalem, discussions further explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in trade such as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), eco-tourism, trade and investment, tourism, business using the Kibbutz system, innovation, capacity building in areas such as agriculture and public health and other cooperations that are geared towards upskilling and self-sufficiency.
