Australia’s Prime Minister Conferred Fiji’s Highest Honour

The Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, this morning was accorded a traditional welcoming ceremony by the Government of the Republic of Fiji at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva; reaffirming the enduring friendship and deepening partnership between Fiji and Australia.
As a profound expression of respect and honour, Prime Minister Albanese was formally welcomed through a traditional veiqaravi vakavanua ceremony, a cherished reflection of Fiji’s cultural heritage and deep-rooted values of respect, kinship, and hospitality
In his remarks, Prime Minister Albanese expressed his sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Fiji for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation. Following the traditional welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers led their respective delegations in bilateral discussions, and the leaders will conclude the official programme with a joint press conference.
As part of his official programme, Prime Minister Albanese will also join Fiji’s Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, the Honourable Ro Filipe Tuisawau, to officially inaugurate the Pacific Australia Skills Programme, reaffirming Australia’s continued support for skills development, workforce capability, and inclusive economic opportunities in Fiji and across the Pacific.
Prime Minister Albanese’s Official Visit reflects the strength of the Fiji–Australia relationship and reaffirms the shared commitment of both countries to fostering regional peace, security, sustainable development, and prosperity for the benefit of their peoples and the wider Pacific family.
