The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Sakiasi Ditoka, yesterday received a farewell call from the Non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Marko Ham – marking the conclusion of his diplomatic tenure in Fiji.
Hon. Ditoka acknowledged Ambassador Ham’s contribution in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two nations and wished him well for his future endeavours.
The Minister reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to deepening ties with Slovenia and the wider European Union, noting the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration on issues of mutual interest, including sustainable development, ocean conservation and economic cooperation.
Ambassador Ham, in turn, commended Fiji’s leadership role in the Pacific region and expressed confidence that the strong foundation built during his tenure would continue to grow under his successor.
Both sides reflected on the cordial relations shared between Fiji and Slovenia since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1993. They acknowledged the steady progress made in advancing cooperations in areas such as trade, climate change, multilateral engagement at the United Nations, and people-to-people links.
