The Fiji High Commissioner to New Zealand, His Excellency, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola welcomed a courtesy call from His Excellency, Rashed Matar Sultan AlQemzi, the United Arab Emirates, Ambassador to New Zealand on Monday, 7th March.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing arrangements for the establishment of the United Arab Embassy in Suva. His Excellency, Ambassador AlQemzi is expected to travel to Fiji in the near future, accompanied by a delegation from the United Arab Emirates, to further progress plans for the setup of the new diplomatic mission.
During the discussions, Ambassador AlQemzi also shared an update on the current situation in the United Arab Emirates.
Despite recent challenges, he reassured the High Commissioner that conditions on the ground have largely stabilised, with normalcy returning to daily life. He further noted that civilians continue to receive regular security updates through mobile communication networks.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong and growing bilateral relations between Fiji and the United Arab Emirates, with both sides expressing their commitment to enhancing diplomatic cooperation and advancing shared interest in the region. The establishment of the UAE Embassy in Suva is expected to further strengthen ties, deepen engagement, and create new opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual benefit.
