The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Dr. Raijeli Taga, received a courtesy call from Professor David Peebles of the Pacific Security College (PSC) on Wednesday, 25 March.
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the strong collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade and the Pacific Security College, and to explore new avenues for further strengthening this partnership.
Dr. Taga acknowledged the success of the Pacific Regional National Security Conference (PRNSC) hosted at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in 2024 and 2025 and highlighted the value of PRNSC discussions in shaping a shared regional understanding of the Ocean of Peace. She noted the PSC’s potential to contribute to related initiatives under the Ocean of Peace Action Plan.
Professor Peebles reaffirmed the PSC’s commitment to the partnership and commended Fiji’s leadership in regional peace and security. Both parties agreed to explore opportunities for curriculum support from the PSC towards Fiji’s newly established diplomatic institute, administered through the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Servants (FLIPS).
The Pacific Security College, based in Canberra, Australia, supports security sector leadership and education across the Indo-Pacific region. Fiji continues to position itself as a key hub for regional peace and security dialogues, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade reaffirmed its commitment to future engagements under the Pacific Security College’s programme of work.
