The Pacific Pre-COP31 stakeholder programme began this morning with the opening of the Vale ni Vanua Knowledge Exchange at the Sofitel Resort in Nadi.
The programme brings together civil society, youth, Indigenous peoples, local communities, researchers, the private sector and international organisations to contribute their perspectives, knowledge and practical solutions to the wider climate conversation.
Reflecting the Pacific tradition of talanoa, the Knowledge Exchange provides an inclusive space for open and meaningful dialogue on the realities communities face from climate change, while strengthening collaboration on resilience, sustainable livelihoods and locally driven solutions.
Stakeholder engagement is an important part of the Pre-COP31 process, ensuring that climate discussions is inclusive as it looks into the experiences and knowledge of those on the frontline of climate impacts.
The discussions will contribute to strengthening and amplifying the Pacific voice ahead of COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, and reinforce the region’s call for climate action that responds to the needs and aspirations of Pacific communities.
