
Wallis and Futuna Deepen Diaspora Engagement and Regional Cooperation in Fiji

Ministry Hosts Reception in Honor of the Wallis and Futuna Delegation
The Roving Ambassadors Division in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade hosted a reception in honor of the Wallis and Futuna High Level Delegation during their official visit to Fiji this week.
The event held at the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat (PIFS) in Suva was attended by the Prefect of the French Territory of Wallis and Futuna, Mr. Jean Francois de Manheulle and the President of the Assembly, His Excellency Munipoese Muli’aka’aka, members of the diplomatic corps, key stakeholders, and senior government officials.
The Counselor for the Roving Ambassador Division, Mr. Isaac Grace delivered remarks on behalf of the Ministry, extending a warm welcome to the Wallis and Futuna delegation. He described the occasion as a conceived idea turned into reality – a testament the Pacific family and our shared commitment to building peace and prosperity in the region.
In his remarks, Mr. Grace acknowledged the President of the Assembly and the delegation from Wallis and Futuna for their timely visit to Fiji. He also recognised and thanked the representatives of the French Republic for the support towards the cooperation. He paid special tribute to the Roving Ambassador, Mr. William Toganivalu, recognizing his effort, commitment and vision as Fiji’s Ambassador to the Pacific including territories, noting that his dedication has been instrumental in making the visit possible.
Looking ahead, Mr. Grace expressed optimism for the future, stating that this visit marks just a beginning, and that they look forward to similar engagements with its Pacific neighbors.
The occasion provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties and reaffirm the collective commitment between Fiji and Wallis and Futuna to the principles of Pacific regionalism, cooperation, and mutual respect.
