
Fiji High Commission in New Zealand welcomes a delegation from Fiji National University

The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dr Raijeli Taga welcomed the new Head of Delegation of the Pacific for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC’s) Ms Finau Heuifanga Leveni, during the presentation of credentials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) headquarters in Suva.
Dr. Taga congratulated Ms Leveni on her appointment and extended her best wishes for the role. She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthen collaboration with IFRC, recognizing the organisation’s crucial role worldwide in providing humanitarian assistance and building community resilience.
The meeting explored opportunities to further deepen the cooperation between Fiji and IFRC in areas such as disaster risk reduction and climate change, health care, empowerment of women and youths, and broader community development. The discussions also covered IFRC’s current programs and avenues to expand engagements across the Pacific region.
Ms. Leveni expressed her gratitude to Dr Taga for the kind welcome and productive dialogue. She reaffirmed IFRC’s commitment to collaborating closely with Fiji and wider Pacific region. Ms. Leveni is optimistic the cooperation between IFRC and the Pacific will elevate to new levels.
