Fiji’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Malaysia, Ratu Etueni Qiolele Caucau, presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, at the Istana Negara, the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on 28th January 2025.

The milestone occasion re-opened Fiji’s Diplomatic Mission and reset cooperation between the two countries. The Federation of Malaysia ranks among Fiji’s top ten trading partners, with several Malaysian companies operating in Fiji.

Fiji and Malaysia relations are deeply underpinned by historical ties that date back to the Malayan Emergency of the 1950s when a Fijian Infantry Regiment served bravely in Malaysia alongside Commonwealth troops.

The High Commissioner’s accreditation expands to multilateral and bilateral partners and the team is steadfast on nurturing and elevating collaboration, promoting mutual understanding and shared goals and especially advancing Fiji’s interests.

The Mission will re-establish relations with the Fijian diaspora and will offer effective and efficient consular and protocol services when required.
