The Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, visited the Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand office in Auckland as part of Fiji’s continued efforts to strengthen trade and investment partnerships with New Zealand.
Joining the Minister were His Excellency Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Fiji’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, and the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Dr. Raijeli Taga. During the visit, the delegation met with eleven New Zealand and international investors to discuss opportunities to invest in Fiji across a range of priority sectors, including marine technology, agriculture and food trade, renewable and clean energy, and advanced construction and affordable housing.
The discussions highlighted Fiji Government’s commitment to attracting investment that delivers tangible benefits for the people of Fiji. This includes creating quality jobs, supporting local businesses, introducing new technologies and skills, and building industries that are environmentally sustainable and resilient to future challenges. The meeting also reinforced Fiji’s vision of becoming a leading destination for investment and business in the Pacific.
The delegation presented practical investment opportunities that align with Fiji’s national development priorities, including strengthening infrastructure, improving food and energy security, supporting innovation, and making it easier for businesses to invest and operate in Fiji through ongoing trade and investment reforms.
The meeting provided a valuable platform for investors to engage directly with Fiji’s leadership, discuss potential projects, raise any concerns or challenges, and explore how the Government and the private sector can work together to turn investment opportunities into reality.
The investment engagement took place on the margins of the Future of Investment and Trade (FIT) Partnership Ministerial Meeting, hosted by New Zealand. Fiji’s participation as an observer reflects its commitment to engaging in regional initiatives that support economic growth, create opportunities for businesses, and strengthen international partnerships for the benefit of all Fijians.
