Fiji And UK Enter New Phase Of Strategic Communications Partnership 🇫🇯🤝🇬🇧

The latest phase has already delivered capability building for Communications Officers from 20 government ministries, focusing on topics from countering disinformation to public diplomacy.
The United Kingdom and Fiji have entered the fourth phase of their strategic communications partnership. The partnership is aimed at improving Fiji’s resilience to disinformation and fostering national trust through clearer government messaging.
Delivered by the UK’s Government Communication Service International (GCSI) alongside the Fijian Ministry of Information, the fourth phase of the partnership is focused on developing the counter-disinformation capabilities of the Fijian Civil Service and offering specialist training in areas from strategic communications.
This collaboration between Fiji and the UK reinforces a mutual commitment to giving the public faster access to accurate information and helping ministries build stronger relationships with citizens.
Fijian Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka said:
“This strategic communications partnership shows the strength and maturity of the UK-Fiji relationship.
“As the information environment evolves, both our countries must combat misinformation and also communicate clearly with the public. This will not only help build trust in our populations, but to protect our national security and democracy.”

The priorities for the latest phase in the strategic communications partnership include turning Fiji’s SAUTU Counter-Disinformation Framework from a framework into action, advancing digital transformation and supporting Fiji in upcoming international climate negotiations.
By supporting Fiji’s strategic communications professionals and key institutions, the UK is helping build more resilient public communications systems capable of responding to emerging challenges, from misinformation and disinformation to crisis communications and digital transformation.
