The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade today held its first church service of the year, which also marked the observance of Ash Wednesday, bringing together staff in a spirit of prayer, gratitude, and reflection as they renewed their shared commitment to service.
The service served as a reminder that true leadership is rooted in peace, empathy, and humility, and that prayer and faith remain powerful sources of hope and strength.
In his address, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, said that leadership begins with humility and a commitment to serve with faith and courage, noting that public service is a sacred responsibility before God and the people of Fiji.
He emphasized the Ministry’s important role as the Veimataki of Fiji, dedicated to serving the people of Fiji, representing the nation with dignity on the global stage, and engaging international and regional partners with clarity and respect.
Hon. Ditoka encouraged staff to continue to work in unity, with discipline, and humility, calling on the Ministry team to rise to a greater calling of service; to serve the people of Fiji to the best of their abilities.
The Minister also noted that despite geopolitical challenges around the world, Fiji remains strong and united in its commitment to promoting peace and harmony through dialogue grounded in mutual respect and understanding.
In conclusion, Hon. Ditoka thanked the team for their dedication and encouraged them to continue serving with diligence, compassion, and faith.
The service was led by Superintendent Minister of the Wesley Division, Reverend Tevita Kete, who called on the team to work in solidarity, uphold faith, and place God at the centre of all they do.
Following the service, staff shared breakfast together before proceeding with the day’s duties.
