First-Ever Diplomatic Training Completed at the Fiji Diplomatic Academy

Fiji–Australia relations continue to reach new heights under the renewed Vuvale Partnership through strengthened people-to-people ties and shared commitment to deepen engagements and regional cooperation. This message was conveyed at the Australia Day commemoration and a celebration of the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership held at the Australian High Commissioners residence in Suva on Friday 30th January 2026.
The occasion symbolized the advanced cooperation and friendship between our two nations and our commitment to regional solidarity.
In his remarks, the Australian High Commissioner to Fiji Mr Peter Roberts highlighted the significance of the Vuvale Partnership, stating that last year our two-way trade was worth more than 4.4 billion dollars Australian – marking a significant surplus for Fiji.
Ambassador Roberts further acknowledged the strengthened economic connectivity between our two nations particularly in tourism and trade, and reaffirmed Australia’s unwavering commitment to deepen the levels of cooperation, ahead.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Ms. Kiti Temo said Fiji and Australia have forged a firm foundation of diplomatic relations which has stood the test of time.
Ms. Temo reaffirmed the dedication of the Government of the Fiji to working closely with Australia in building a brighter future, not only for our two nations, but for the Pacific region as a whole.
She also emphasised that as members of one Vuvale, Fiji stands shoulder to shoulder with Australia in celebrating another year of its journey, enriched by the strength of its diverse society and peoples.
The event attended by the senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and various stakeholders, celebrated the achievements of the Vuvale Partnership and recognised our shared commitment to building peace and prosperity in the Pacific and beyond.
