
Fiji and Australia reaffirm commitment to the Vuvale partnership

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MFAET), Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka received a courtesy call from the Charge’ de Affairs (CDA) of the Embassy of the United States of America in Suva, Mr. John Degory, at the Ministry headquarters yesterday afternoon (27/1/26).
Both sides reaffirmed the commitment to strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation between Fiji and U.S. through continued dialogue and collaboration.
Hon. Ditoka acknowledged that U.S. and Fiji partnership has evolved over years, with engagements across development, trade, security, and people-to-people ties.
On regional cooperation, Hon. Ditoka highlighted that U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy share alignments with our own 2050 Blue Pacific Continent Strategy, and Fiji values continued partnership with U.S. on regional security, economic resilience, and climate adaptation.
Hon. Ditoka expressed Fiji’s commitment to deepen cooperation with U.S. and also thanked the U.S. Embassy Suva for its continued support.
The discussions highlighted the recent policy developments on immigration that is being addressed through mutual dialogue. It also looked at upcoming engagement opportunities aimed at deepening cooperation in trade and economy.
Mr Degory congratulated Hon. Ditoka and wished him well in his new appointment. He reaffirmed that U.S. looks forward to strengthening relations with Fiji and the region.
