
Pacific Diplomatic trainees visit Fiji High Commission in Wellington

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MFAET) Team today welcomed the Senior Program Officer of The Asia Foundation and former first secretary to the Fiji’s Diplomatic Mission in London, Ms Lavenia Rokovucago, for an information sharing session on, “Women in Diplomacy.”
This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to advancing women’s leadership in foreign service and fostering stronger partnerships with external stakeholders.
The session highlighted the challenges and opportunities for women in foreign services and ways we can collaboratively advance women’s empowerment at all levels of leadership and diplomacy through building partnerships.
The Ministry acknowledges the contributions of all women diplomats who have shaped Fiji’s foreign service and continue to create lasting legacies, and such networking initiatives, aims to provide capacity building for the current and future diplomats.
At today’s session, Ms. Rokovucago shared insights on her experiences at the Ministry – both at the headquarters and Fiji’s Diplomatic Mission. She had joined the Ministry in 2011 and had served at various leadership levels up until 2017 and transitioned into international development. She now serves with The Asia Foundation, focusing on governance, leadership development, and systems-focused change in the Pacific.
