The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Team earlier this week welcomed the newly appointed Military and Police Advisor (MPA) Colonel Daunivakasala Kalitabua Ravunakana as he prepared for his deployment to Fiji’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) in New York – the United States of America.
On behalf of the Ministry, the Permanent Secretary Dr Raijeli Taga congratulated and extended best wishes to Colonel Ravunakana for his new role and also acknowledged the contributions of the former MPA – Colonel Siliva Vananalagi as she recently completed her two-year tenure.
In his remarks, Colonel Ravunakana expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent Fiji and reaffirmed his commitment to perform his duties to the best of his abilities. Colonel Ravunakana thanked the Ministry for the support in his preparations for the deployment and looked forward to building on the achievements of his predecessor – Colonel Vananalagi.
With over three decades of exemplary service Colonel Ravunakana has served in both local and international peacekeeping missions – including United Nations Missions in Lebanon, Iraq, Timor-Leste, the Golan Heights, and the Sinai Peninsula. He began his career in 1992, with Fiji Infantry Regiment and since then served at various leadership roles in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).
Originally from Nanukuloa in Ra, Colonel Ravunakana is a graduate of the Royal Australian Military College and National Defence University of the People’s Liberation Army (China), with the Master’s Degree in Strategic and Security Studies, advanced diploma in Strategic Leadership and Management, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Emergency Crisis Management.
