The Executive Support Unit (ESU) acts as the Permanent Secretary’s point of contact, analysing and actioning requests to prioritise urgent and often sensitive matters, and taking decisive action to facilitate the optimal use of the Permanent Secretary’s time

ESU also prepares and reviews high level communications strategies and complex communications, ensuring timeliness and accuracy to support the achievement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

ESU also researches, analyses, collates and provides reports to the Permanent Secretary to support informed decision-making and planning.  The unit also works in partnership with directors and officers within the Ministry to facilitate group-level responses such as correspondence and reports.

ESU also contributes to the development of, and monitoring, implementing and evaluating of administrative practices, systems and procedures to optimise efficiency and support the achievement of quality outcomes.
