Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka received a farewell courtesy call from the outgoing Ambassador of Japan to Fiji, His Excellency Mr. Rokuichiro Michii in his office yesterday.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Rabuka expressed the Fijian Government’s appreciation for Ambassador Michii’s leadership and outstanding contributions that have deepened the Fiji–Japan partnership during his tenure and further strengthened the bases for future relations.
The Prime Minister also conveyed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during his recent official visit to Japan, noting that the visit further reinforced the close friendship and cooperation between both nations.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Ambassador Michii has been an exceptional friend and partner to Fiji.
His tenure has elevated our bilateral relations, and Japan’s continued support—particularly in climate resilience, infrastructure development, and disaster preparedness.
In response, Ambassador Michii thanked Prime Minister Rabuka and the people of Fiji for their support and goodwill, saying it had been an honour to serve in a nation with whom Japan shares mutual respect, shared values, and a deepening partnership.
Prime Minister Rabuka wished Ambassador Michii success in his future endeavours and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Japan.
