Pacific Leaders gathered last night to mark the official opening of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka joined fellow Pacific Leaders at the Pacific Islands Forum – organised reception at Roosevelt Island.
The reception was an opportunity to reconnect as a Pacific Vuvale and reaffirm regional solidarity while advocating for the priorities of the Blue Pacific Continent.
PIF Chair and Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Honourable Jeremiah Manele, highlighted that, “Our presence here in New York provides us the opportunity to be united with one voice and be heard by the international community. Whether we are raising climate ambition, defending our oceans, or championing gender equality and youth leadership, our strength comes from speaking as one family.”
The General Debate started today at the United Nations General Assembly Hall.
