
Hon. Qereqeretabua meets Cook Islands Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration

The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Lenora Qereqeretabua represented Fiji at the Cook Islands 60th Constitution Day Ceremony commemorated in Rarotonga on Tuesday 5th August 2025.
This marked Hon. Qereqeretabua’s first official visit to the Cook Islands and she described the experience as truly memorable and meaningful.
“As a Fijian standing on the shores of Rarotonga, I see pride, resilience, and the deep heartbeat of the Pacific,” Hon. Qereqeretabua stated.
Hon. Qereqeretabua said its an honor to represent Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka and the Government of Fiji at the celebrations, which was attended by international leaders, dignitaries and invited guests from across the world and the Pacific.
Hon.Qereqeretabua congratulated Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, Honorable Mark Brown and the people of Cook Islands on the significant milestone of 60 years of self-governance and the achievements they have attained over the years. She thanked the Cook Islands for the invitation extended to Fiji, enabling us to join the celebrations that reflected on the cultural ties and bonding we share as the Pacific family.
The Assistant Minister also acknowledged the strong diplomatic relations and collaboration between the two nations and our shared commitment to regional peace and prosperity. Fiji’s representation at the celebrations demonstrates our strong diplomatic ties with the Cook Islands and the broader Pacific family.
While speaking at the celebrations, Prime Minister of Cook Islands Honourable Mark Brown reaffirmed the Cook Islands commitment to the advancement of regional prosperity.
The Governor-General of New Zealand, H.E The Rt Honorable Dame Cindy Kiro delivered a special address in recognition of the celebrations and its significance.
The celebrations brought together various communities from around the world – uniting the nations through the rich tapestry of traditions and shared identity and cultural values.
