The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua received a farewell courtesy call yesterday, from the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Mr Kim Jin Hyung, marking the conclusion of his distinguished diplomatic posting in Fiji.
On behalf of the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Hon. Qereqeretabua extended her sincere appreciation to Ambassador Kim Jin Hyung for his commitment and contributions to strengthening the Fiji-Korea bilateral relationship.
Hon. Qereqeretabua acknowledged Ambassador Kim Jin Hyung’s significant support for the key projects implemented by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) at both national and community levels. Ambassador Kim Jin Hyung has contributed positively to advancing KOICA’s strategic vision of “green, healthy and safe islands” in Fiji.
Further, Hon. Qereqeretabua said that Ambassador’s contributions will continue to inspire stronger collaboration and progress, noting Fiji-Korea friendship and cooperation continues to elevate to new levels.
In conclusion, the Assistant Minister extended her best wishes to Ambassador Kim Jin Hyung and his family for their future endeavors.
In his remarks, Ambassador Kim Jin Hyung conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the Government and the people of Fiji for the support provided during his tenure. He reaffirmed the Republic of Korea’s continued dedication to further deepening cooperation with Fiji and supporting the sustainable development goals.
Ambassador Kim Jin Hyung highlighted the enormous potential for expanded cooperation between the two nations in areas of economic growth and sustainable development.
He said it was a great honor and experience to serve in Fiji, and he looks forward for the continued friendship and collaboration, stating he would like to visit Fiji again in the future.
Following his meeting with the Assistant Minister, Ambassador Kim Jin Hyung had the opportunity to meet Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr Raijeli Taga.
The meeting looked at strategic areas of cooperation, highlighting progress on the current projects and potential initiatives to be pursued through further dialogue between Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Embassy in Suva.
