
MSG foreign ministers meeting reaffirms regional solidarity

The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua received a courtesy visit from the non- resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia, His Excellency Mr. Beka Dvali, during his official visit to Fiji this week.
The meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters highlighted the commitment by Fiji and Georgia to further strengthen the cooperation in areas of health and medical services, climate change, sports diplomacy and people to people links.
Hon. Qereqeretabua acknowledged the support Georgia has provided to Fiji over the years through initiatives such as the provision of medical scholarships and welcomed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation in this area.
Additionally, the Assistant Minister noted the prospects to strengthen the bilateral relations and collaboration between the two nations.
The Embassy of Georgia and the Fiji High Commission in Canberra, Australia will work collaboratively to enhance the engagements ahead.
Ambassador Dvali thanked Hon. Qereqeretabua for the productive discussions they had on moving forward the cooperation.
He conveyed Georgia’s invitation to the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka to visit Georgia. He also proposed for Fiji to appoint an Honorary Consul in Georgia as one of the ways to deepen engagements between the two countries.
Ambassador Dvali extended his appreciation to the Fiji Government for the kind hospitality accorded to him during his visit to Fiji this week and remains optimistic that the cooperation between the two nations will continue to elevate to new levels.
