In the spirit of the Pacific Vuvale, Fiji and the Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI) expressed their commitment to enhance cooperation. This was conveyed at a recent bilateral meeting held between Fiji’s Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable Lenora Qereqeretabua and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Honourable Kalani Kaneko.
The meeting took place at the margins of the Fourteenth Meeting of the Conference of the Pacific Community convened in Nukuʻalofa, the Kingdom of Tonga from Thursday 16 to Friday 17 October 2025.
The Assistant Minister reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to strengthen collaboration under the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Development Cooperation with a focus on people-to-people links, potential training and upskilling programs as well as an emphasis on improving connectivity and economic cooperation, as the MOU progresses into next phase.
In his response, Minister Kaneko extended his appreciation for Fiji’s continued support and remained optimistic that the relations will continue to thrive to new heights through these new initiatives being explored.
Fiji is among the Pacific Islands nations that gathered in Tonga last week for the 55th Meeting of the Committee of Representatives of Governments and Administrations (CRGA 55) and the 14th Conference of the Pacific Community, with the theme, “Pasifiki: Rooted in Heritage, Honouring the Past, United for a Resilient Future”.
