The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua farewelled United States Deputy Secretary of State Mr. Christopher Landau at the Nausori Airport, this evening.
During his visit, Deputy Secretary Landau engaged in high-level discussions with senior government officials on opportunities to expand bilateral collaboration in critical development sectors; reaffirming U.S. collaboration with Fiji and the broader Pacific region.
Hon. Qereqeretabua expressed Fiji’s sincere appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Government of Fiji’s dedication to strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation with the U.S.
Deputy Secretary Landau thanked the Government and the people of Fiji for the warm welcome and kind hospitality, affirming U.S. commitment to deepen relations for mutual prosperity.
Deputy Secretary Landau’s visit to Fiji formed part of his Mission to the Pacific encompassing official engagements in Tonga and Samoa. The visit coincided with the Pacific Agenda: Investment, Security and Shared Prosperity Summit, co-hosted by Deputy Secretary Landau and Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of U.S Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), at the East-West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
