The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka, today received a courtesy call from the Ambassador of the European Union to the Pacific, H.E Barbara Plinkert.
The meeting held at the Ministry headquarters provided an opportunity to discuss the current areas of cooperation and reaffirm commitment to strengthening the engagements ahead. The discussions were timely, with Fiji-EU collaboration for the 11th European Union–Pacific Interim Economic Partnership Agreement (iEPA) Trade Committee Meeting convened this week in Suva.
Hon. Ditoka acknowledged EU’s support provided to Fiji over the years towards economic and social progress, particularly with collaboration in climate change, disaster risk reduction, governance, gender and human rights, and sustainable livelihood.
Hon. Ditoka said Fiji looks forward to the outcomes of this week’s iEPA Trade Committee Meeting to further strengthen the cooperation on inclusive and sustainable economic development across the Pacific.
Ambassador Plinkert congratulated Hon. Ditoka on the assumption of his new ministerial role and reaffirmed European Union’s continued collaboration and support for Fiji’s development priorities and our shared commitment to sustainable development, peace and prosperity.
