The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka met with the Director – General of the Commonwealth Foundation, Dr. Razmi Farook, in the margins of the 2026 Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Hotel, Nadi yesterday (11/2/2026).
Hon. Ditoka acknowledged the Foundation’s constructive cooperation with Fiji, stating that its core objectives complement the Fiji Government’s priorities in ensuring inclusivity in decision making amongst all members of the society including Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and academic institutions.
Hon. Ditoka highlighted that the Foundation’s ‘people-centered approach’ offers opportunities to work collaboratively in building the bridge between civil societies and national governments to ensure stronger governance, democracy and the rule of law.
Hon. Ditoka also highlighted that Fiji’s membership to the Commonwealth Foundation will be discussed internally through mandatory domestic processes.
Deliberations also elaborated on the need for innovative, collaborative, and people-centered approach to address the challenges that the Commonwealth family is facing.
Dr. Farook conveyed her appreciation to the Fiji Government for the enduring cooperation and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to work collaboratively in advancing “A Commonwealth of equal, just and inclusive societies.”
The Commonwealth Foundation is the multilateral arm of the Commonwealth Secretariat, mandated by its member countries to advance the interests of Commonwealth civil societies.
