Fiji-Nauru Advance Relations: Hon. Ditoka Meets President of the Republic of Nauru

The President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, today commissioned Fiji’s new Ambassador to Japan, His Excellency Kemueli Naiqama, at State House.
Ambassador designate Naiqama recited the Oath for Due Execution of Office and the Oath of Allegiance before the President in accordance with the Constitution.
Also in attendance at the ceremony were Hon. Ro Filipe Tuisawau, Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services, and Transport and Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade as well as the Acting Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr Lesi Korovavala; the Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, Mr. Paula Cirikiyasawa, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and members of Ambassador Naiqama’s family.
Prior to his appointment, Mr Naiqama served as the Government Statistician, leading the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.
Mr Naiqama also served at the Office of the Prime Minister as a Senior Policy Adviser, prior to that, he served in the Ministry of National Planning as a Senior Planning Officer.
From August to December 2022, he worked with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as a Demographic Dividend Coordination Specialist. In this capacity, he coordinated demographic dividend scoping consultations and analysis for Fiji and the Solomon Islands through high-level dialogue, data analysis, and consultations at national, divisional, and provincial levels across key sectors.
Between July and November 2016, Mr Naiqama served as Deputy Government Statistician with the Fiji Bureau of Statistics, contributing to the Bureau’s strategic direction and long-term planning.
He has also served as an Adviser to the Asian Development Bank Executive Board in Manila, Philippines.
Ambassador Naiqama holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of the South Pacific, a Bachelor of Technology, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in International Relations from the University of Fiji and a Master of Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific.
