The Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka today received a courtesy call from the British High Commissioner to Fiji, H.E Kanbar Hossein-Bor.
The meeting reaffirmed Fiji-UK relations in the lead up to the Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting hosted by Fiji at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort in Nadi from 9 – 12 February 2026.
High Commissioner Hossein Bor delivered a congratulatory letter from the UK Government Minister for the Indo– Pacific, Hon. Seema Malhotra, acknowledging Minister Ditoka’s new ministerial appointment and reaffirming the UK’s commitment to deepen cooperation with Fiji.
In his remarks, Hon. Ditoka acknowledged the UK’s ongoing support to Fiji, and our strong historical ties and cooperation in development priorities including climate change, ocean conservation, trade, maritime security and peacekeeping.
Hon. Ditoka expressed Fiji’s commitment to deepen collaboration in addressing shared challenges and advancing common goals on sustainable development and economic prosperity.
Discussions highlighted the valuable contributions of Fijians serving in the British Army, as well as the wider Fijian diaspora in the UK, recognising their role in strengthening people to people ties and national development.
High Commissioner Hossein-Bor congratulated Hon. Ditoka for his new ministerial appointment and expressed the UK’s commitment to deepen bilateral and multilateral engagements with Fiji.
The meeting also elaborated on trade and investment, and connectivity opportunities to be explored through Fiji’s High Commission in the United Kingdom.
With Fiji set to host next week’s Commonwealth Law Ministers Meeting, both sides agreed that the momentum provides an opportunity to elevate Fiji-UK and broader Commonwealth cooperation.
