The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Dr Raijeli Taga, today met with the Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji, Mr Liu Ke, to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade.
The meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MFAET) provided a platform to explore areas of mutual interest, including trade facilitation, investment, market access, and addressing non-tariff barriers that affect the smooth flow of goods between Fiji and China.
Both parties acknowledged the importance of ongoing dialogue to support economic growth and enhance trade relations.
During the discussions, the value of practical collaboration to promote trade and investment, including measures to identify and resolve non-tariff barriers were highlighted. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Fiji and China to continue exploring practical initiatives that support sustainable economic development and deepen bilateral trade relations.
