
Prime Minister Rabuka delivers Ministerial statement on his recent official engagement overseas

The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr Raijeli Taga today welcomed the new Regional Representative for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Multi-Country Office in Canberra, Australia, Ms. Soo- Jin Rhee, as she presented her letter of appointment, at the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Suva.
Dr Taga acknowledged UNHCR for the humanitarian assistance to Fiji through the Ministry of Immigration.
She reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to work with the UNHCR’s Regional Multi-Country Office to further the collaboration and also congratulated Ms Rhee on her recent appointment and wished her well for the new role.
The UNHCR Multi-Country Office plays a critical role in overseeing the protection and operational activities in the Pacific region with coordinating responses to displacement, promoting durable solutions, and ensuring access to protection for refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons, and other persons of concern.
